What are Duolingo Chests?

I love Duolingo because to earn specific rewards, you need to complete the tasks associated with it. Yes, I am talking about Duolingo chests. Duolingo chests are the rewards you get, for completing certain tasks on the platform. Every chest comes with different rewards. The following are the most common rewards that you will get when you unlock Duolingo chests-

  • XP Boost
  • Gems
  • XPs
  • Super Duo

If you notice the rewards, you can see Super Duo. Does it mean you will get it free? Yes, if you are lucky enough, you can get it. I guess this is their strategy to sell the subscription plan.

Each chest is different from the others and is unlocked when you complete the tasks. To know what these chests are in detail, it is important to know all of them. Thus, further, I have discussed all of them one by one.

What are the different Duolingo chests?

There are a lot of different Duolingo chests available on the platform and all of them are unlocked differently. Further, we have explained all the different types of chests in detail-

1. Night owl chest

Night Owl Chest is the one where you will have to complete the lesson at night between 6 pm-12 am. It is my personal favorite chest. Want to know why? Simply because I, am a night owl. hahha. Lol

In most cases, you will get a 15-minute XP boost as a reward to complete the chest. Unfortunately, it is not available for all users. Currently, it is only available for users using Duolingo on Android mobile and not on iOS devices.

2. Early bird chest

If you are someone opposite to me then this chest is for you. As the name suggests, this is the chest you unlock in the morning. To get this chest unlocked, complete your first lesson of the day before 12 pm. Once you complete it by 12 pm, you will get the notification at 6 pm that your chest is available which you can get from the Duolingo shop.

Again the reward for it is a 15-minute long XP boost up. The biggest problem with this chest is that you have to wait for 6 hours to get the reward. Unlike Night Owl Chest, it is available for all mobile users including Android and iOS devices.

3. Daily quests chests

In these Duolingo chests, you will complete some of the easiest tasks that need little time. Usually, you will be able to unlock 3 chests each day. These are the chests that will give you a lot of gems. Currently, Daily quests Duolingo chests are divided into three tiers – Bronze, silver, and gold chests. If we talk about Gold Duolingo chest you will get 15 gems with an additional XP boost (if you are lucky enough). Whereas if we talk about Silver and Bronze chests, you will get 10 and 15 gems respectively.

4. Friends quest Duolingo chests

To unlock this chest you have to take part in a friend quest. In this quest, Duolingo will pair you up with your Duolingo friends. Duolingo friends mean that you are following each other. Usually, you will get the XP for completing the challenge. The worst part that I feel about this chest is that I was only able to take it once a week.

5. Path chests

When you progress through your learning path, you get to unlock a path chest. To unlock this challenge, you must complete all the lessons and the units in the course. There are different levels in the units as well that you may need to complete. It is the easiest chest to unlock. Want to know why? The answer is simple, you will be doing two things simultaneously. Firstly, you will complete the lessons; secondly, you will unlock a chest.

6. Power chests (Latest One)

These are the latest chests that are added to the Duolingo platform. Just like path chests, they are added to the path itself. You will see a time duration above it. In such a challenge, you will have to reach it within that time duration. If you are unable to do so, you will not unlock it. These are the latest chests added to the Duolingo platform. What are the tips to unlock the Duolingo chest?

Only knowing the chests is not important. Do you know what is more important? It is the tricks by which you can easily do it. Below I have shared the tricks that really helped me unlock the Duolingo chests-

1. Complete a lesson in the morning

Although it is a difficult task for a person like me, who is a night owl but trust me, it is worth it. Don’t you think so? When you complete a lesson in the morning before 12 p.m., you will unlock the Early bird challenge. But when you get the reward in the evening, willn’t you be motivated to complete a new lesson evening? Undoubtedly yes. It means you will automatically be unlocking rewards for both chests.

2. Do not ignore your path

When you study the course, you must ensure you complete each lesson on the path. Try not to skip the lessons if your ultimate goal is to earn the chest. Let me tell you one thing, never keep anything above your ultimate goal. I made this mistake once when I had just started using Duolingo. I was focusing more on the rewards than the actual learning. It just wasted my time. Try not to do that. If you are a complete beginner in the language, you must not ignore your path. But if you have a little knowledge, I would suggest you take the placement test.
