Pumpkins

I can finally say that the weeding is complete (for this moment in time). In the future, we may decide to lay down some wood chips to prevent the weeds from coming back quickly. For now, I am satisfied.

What I also discovered today was the pumpkins are growing! They are so darn cute, and healthy.

I had planted the corn, beans, and pumpkins after a story I read from Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book, Braiding Sweetgrass. She explained a centuries old relationship with the “three sisters”, she called them. After growing together in the garden bed for a couple months now, I can see how the beans are reaching for the corn stalks to hold themselves up, and the pumpkins are making their way through the both of them, covering the bottom floor.
